Remember when returning to school meant getting a few notebooks, a brand new box of crayons, and new shoes? In case you wore a uniform to school, you probably got one of those too; otherwise, you got 1 or 2 new outfits. That has been it.
Well, times have changed. The production list now contains items that was previously provided by the colleges – like scissors, glue and tissues. Every child uses a new backpack, notebooks, paper, pens (red, blue and black), glue sticks, ruler, tape, scissors, markers, folders along with a calculator. When you have two children and also you shop the sales, you could still end up having to pay greater than $100.00 in supplies alone. And that doesn’t even count the newest clothes your son or daughter “has to have” or the fees which are essential for art projects, lab costs, etc.
Don’t even get me moving on the supplies, including furniture and appliances, your kids needs for faculty. Should it ever end?
Follow this advice for saving cash on oil paint this season.
1) Recycle – Determine whatever you already have at home. You most likely have assorted crayons, markers, colored pencils, etc. already there the home. Put these together in the pencil box and that should help save some dollars.
2) Re-use – Kids believe last year’s backpack has to go, however a quick trip over the appliance might give it new life.
3) Reduce – Does your son or daughter have a notebook from this past year which includes three pages of written material in it and 77 blank pages left? Would you find this notebook inside the trash – or worse – the trash? Might be a good time to discuss waste and keeping it to a minimum through getting one of the most use possible from every item.
