When Robyn Jones really wants to relax, she strolls along the unspoiled mountainside of her Colorado the place to find visit her horse, Winddancer, the muse on her behalf business name and logo. A devoted photographer and quilter for over 20 years, Robyn includes her photography, art, and quilting skills in designs for travel quilts that currently range from the United States State Quilt Series, the Australia State Quilt Series, the Here Wildlife Series, and the Military Series honoring our U.S. service men and women.

Every Winddancer state quilt design is planned to produce areas of specific states while mixing architecture, floral, wildlife, and history in to a cohesive quilt picture. Since neighboring states share many features, landscapes, and sporting events, blocks can be interchanged to personalize your quilt with your own experiences.

Robyn works closely together with her Australian artist husband, Kevin, each design is drawn from actual life experiences or photographs of her travels. The finished designs are generated in to a computer template that is separated into layers and pieces for quilting, after which many versions are designed to get the best coloring for that final quilt. Importantly, each quilt design needs to be planned employing a common palette of colors. This allows blocks to become interchanged with other state and country designs, so quilters can cause their own “Travel Quilt” or “Where I’ve Lived Quilt.”Winddancer Creations quilts are made with simplicity in mind so that entire families can take advantage of making a special quilt. scenic quilt patterns can be used as an eye on a family’s travel experience and some blocks, including the Wild Mustangs block in the Utah State Quilt design, can be created by children as young as 10-14.With Winddancer designs, color and layering are employed extensively to produce detail. Patterns from other designers are often far more complex and need advanced techniques or years of quilting experience.
