Within the third article within the series on the “miracle” as well as the “mind,” we’re going to bring kindness and unkindness in the discussion about specialness. Inside a Course in Miracles (ACIM), kindness is a member of humility and learning and unkindness is to use arrogance and specialness. The miracle-minded obviously choose humility, learning and kindness which suggests they will eventually learn how to forgive all specialness that’s what maintains the separation from God. Belief in separation pertains to if you are the One Son perceiving Himself separate as well as fragments. All unkindness is due to the anxiety in the mind whenever we repress our fear and guilt instead of forgiving our specialness desires. We blame and project it onto others who are actually part of us in fact.
There’s two books by Kenneth Wapnick on, “The Healing Power Kindness.” Volume 1 is on, “Releasing Judgment” and Volume 2 on, “Forgiving Our Limitations.” I think, these needs to be required reading and continuing study for anyone who is a serious Course student. These passage says all of it:
Whenever you schedule the brilliant metaphysics of your Course in Miracles as well as its sophisticated psychological insights, this course might be pared as a result of one simple rule: Be kind. If you are not kind, then not just do you think you’re not practicing the Course, fat loss you can also commence to understand it. Regardless how brilliant knowing about it of the metaphysics could possibly be, if you aren’t being kind toward another individual, you are not doing what this program is asking (The Healing Power of Kindness, Vol.1: Releasing Judgment by Kenneth Wapnick, p. 10, underline mine).
Not surprisingly admonition, we insist upon being unkind:
This inability to truly practice A Course in Miracles’ kind principles of forgiveness which they study, or even teach, has perhaps been essentially the most serious failing among its students. This book’s sequel, “Few Elect to Listen,” discusses how students often conceal their thought system of specialness within the guise of spiritual counseling or friendship. The possible lack of simple kindness is, unfortunately, unmistakable to everyone except the program student making the spiritual pronouncements (What it’s all about Of A Course in Miracles: Are all Called, p. 306).
The non-dualistic concise explaination kindness can not be understood here within the experience of dualism as long as specialness is continuously chosen for the reason that ego emanates from an unkind thought against God and Heaven. Our unwillingness to realize this regarding the ego, and what all of that thought product is capable of doing, is a thing that hinders our progress together with the Course. We have to be willing to consider the ego using the Holy Spirit – the real Teacher – and take that darkness to Him for forgiveness. Nothing could be hidden which is straight from the Course.
Kindness To other people Is Kindness To Self
In their books on kindness, Mr. Wapnick also references the cause of the person’s unkind behavior is the same fear (and repressed guilt) that is certainly working in our very own mind and that’s what unites us. We’ve got the same right-mind as well as the same ability to make a choice from them. Determining to be kind does not make us different or better; rather it implies we have been willing to practice the “kind principles” of the Course to ensure we could discover how to understand everything it can be teaching. It’s simply a question of priority.
He goes on to state that in mastering the best way to be kind towards others, we are practicing being kind toward ourselves because, “you and your brother is one. They may be part of you. You’re not different.” This holds straight to one’s heart from the ego’s thought system wherein the concept of difference is the place the ego began – God and the Son were separate and other – and undoes it. Even the slightest hint of specialness is the ego. What he could be saying becomes clear in the event you actually study and exercise the sort forgiveness from the Course!
A life threatening student in the Course would like to know what this means. These students choose to be considered a happy learner together with the only true teacher – the Holy Spirit – as opposed to a spiritually special teacher from the ego of all sorts. They may be very happy to study from Him the way to be free of the burdens connected with denying the reality:
Forgiveness’ kindness is obscure in the beginning, because salvation just isn’t understood, nor truly sought for (S-2.I.1). And here you may lie down the responsibility of denying truth. This is actually the burden that is terrible, rather than the truth (T-21-VI.7).
Self versus “self” -or- Identity versus “identity”
Within the Course, there is a contrast between the “Self” which is our true Identity as Christ as well as the “self” identity with the ego. This is a key factor to know because the first accepts the function God gave us through being God-created; nevertheless the latter is self-created and completely determined by the ego and its aim of vengeance and maintaining separation. Everyone already believes those are the ego. We couldn’t survive here otherwise. To take into consideration the possibly of these being correct and in demand for correction restores hope to mental performance as it points to the way out.
Each time a spiritually special Course teacher (a kind of unhealed healer) teaches specialness with the ego, they are being unkind towards others thereby themselves but they are highly unlikely to look at it this way. They’re also not likely to consider it really is kind for someone to possess boundaries using them since their fear and guilt (and anxiety) are very great. However, honestly looking at the world, we view that it is filled with the fragmented Sonship that’s anxiety-ridden from identifying with the ego self. Unkindness is rampant on earth along with this course community. As Wapnick states though, on the internet discover the Course until we choose being kind.
Our behaviors will be the demonstration of which mind we have chosen (God or even the ego). The ego is often a vengeful and tyrannical thought system of unkindnesses whereas freedom as a result is tied right to kindness:
Without anxiety mental performance is wholly kind (T-6.III.3).
Freedom can’t be learned by tyranny regardless of the sort (T-8.IV.7).
It is usually unkind to alter this course and spiritual specialness does that through competition with God thereby everyone. One small change effectually changes the whole thing from the Course, an absolute thought system. If you feel you understand that, you do not. Once you know you do, you will automatically be kind available for you see the inherent value kindness plays to learn and understanding the Course. As Wapnick states, “It’s something of priority.”
When Kindness Calls
To conclude, let’s reverse now to Mr. Wapnick and his awesome book, “The Message Of A Course In Miracles: Few Opt to Listen,” also to Chapters 4 and 6 on spiritual specialness. I’ll highlight some important passages beginning with a very telling quote. First, however, let me add this two-book set (including, “Few Opt to Listen”) should also be required ongoing study for serious Course students:
“Love is frightening because it’s all-encompassing and within it there is no room for specialness or individual uniqueness.”
He procedes to mention that whenever we have been tempted to call awareness of our review offers some deficiency, or lack, we have been wanting to make such limitation real and into something divides the Sonship. The rock of salvation is it’s impossible to lose so another gains, i.e., there’s nothing to take from another, not really their success. However, we do not understand this until we have spent the essential time purchased learning why these words are correct along with their true meaning. What our systems seem to be doing lets us know which internal teacher we’ve chosen – the ego or the Holy Spirit. The ego is limitations, judgment, specialness and separation – abdominal muscles the complete the Sonship as you.
When we are not kind, we are not Course students or teachers of God (the Course as our path). When kindness calls, it ought to be chosen as kindness brings about miracle-mindedness. Unkindness is in the ego.
