Atlanta Artist Corey Barksdale Selected as Muralist for Dr. King Monument Project Funded by Georgia Tourism Product Grant Decatur, GA, August 16, 2016 –(PR.com)– Dublin Downtown Development Authority and Visit Dublin GA announced today that Corey Barksdale, a nationally recognized Georgia artist, may be selected since the muralist for your Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Monument under rise in Dublin, Georgia. The effect of a $5,000 award through the Georgia Department of monetary Development’s (GDEcD) Tourism division to finance a mural and gateway signage once your there with the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. monument, the mural will be found at the intersection of Church and Telfair Streets. It will set a dark tone in creating a creative and interactive public space for tourists to experience the first step in Dr. King’s rise to greatness as a leader of the Civil Rights movement.
The work will put in a 54’ 7” wide by 10’ high mural on the wall of your neighboring building highlighting First African Baptist Church and Dublin, Georgia since the location of Dr. King’s first public speech in 1944. This mural with a Georgia artist assists being an additional interactive element of the monument site, present an artistically colorful backdrop for the monument site, and make up a vivid gateway for downtown Dublin. “This project is definitely the unique possibility to not just commemorate a critical moment inside our history, but additionally transform a downtown gateway and enhance the assortment of unique public art we now have in downtown Dublin.
