Did you ever hear the expression “it ‘s what it is”? What does that expression mean exactly?
Before I understood the deeper meaning of this expression, I envisioned an emaciated yogi guru in the lotus position floating higher than the ground imperiously imparting wisdom that would take scholars multiple lifetimes to interpret. Since this is my last life on this planet and also the lotus position would put me in traction, I knew that consulting the Course In Miracles would help me clarify its meaning.
Exactly what is the IT that we’re writing about here? In line with the Course in Miracles, IT is truth, specifically God’s truth. Why is it vital that you emphasize it’s God’s truth? Because God’s truth is not ready to accept interpretations whereas a human’s simple truth is. Multiple versions of human truth have result in a many religions. The Columbia Electronic Encyclopedia defines religion like a “system of thought, feeling, and action that is shared by a group which increases the members an object of devotion.”
Who devised the machine of thought? On whose feelings are these thoughts based? Are actions really necessary? According to the Course In Miracles, God just is and our ultimate goal is usually to go back to the perfect state of being. There is no thought or action inside the state of being, you only are. What must not be forgotten is the underlying thread of all religions: God is creator, God is love and we’re all perfect and infinite kids of God.
Put one way, “it is exactly what it is” may be rewritten to “God’s love could be the only truth which is absolute” and also this truth knows no bounds and is timeless.
